Fluval FX5

Having an aquarium has many benefits to anyone who loves to
watch the wonders inside a fresh water or salt water aquarium. Unfortunately, enjoying an aquarium is only a
small part of it. They need to be maintained and looked after properly to stay healthy and beautiful. It is
our recommendation that you pick up the Fluval FX5 canister filter. Honestly, this is
one of the best canister filters on the market today. This filter can keep and maintain your tank in top
condition allowing for your fish and corals to remain healthy. But you need to understand how the FX5 filter
works in more detail.
Basically the canister is designed to hold a large volume of
water during the filtering process. This allows for smooth operation and maximum cleaning. Most people want a
filter to clean and purify the water for their aquatic life, and this filter knows how to do the job
right.
Fluval FX5
The Fluval FX5 is not for small fish tanks. In
fact, it is designed to be used with aquariums up to 300-400 gallons. A common problem with aquariums of that
size is the space needed for a proper filtration unit. Fortunately, Fluval has mastered this problem by
creating the FX5 a smaller filter that can do twice as much as a much larger one. So I’m telling you that
this filter is something you should consider if you have a mammoth of a tank.
This canister filter is equipped with a small circuit board
which is designed to help you check the performance of the filtration process. Unfortunately, filters are not
perfect and from time to time they malfunction. So it is always a good idea to check regularly and keep it
well maintained. A filter that isn’t working correctly could end up killing everything inside your tank. Even
so much as a little bit of a bad grounding can let deadly currents run through the aquarium. The Fluval FX5
hasn’t given us any problems so we are happy to recommend it.
So what do you think this filter costs? Well it retails for $399
in most places. So my best advice is to do some shopping online. I’ve seen the Fluval FX5 in particular, on sale for $279, and even cheaper on Ebay.com. Just make sure that
you are getting the following parts with it, otherwise it will be a hassle to find them at your local pet
store.
- Processes 607 gph
- Self-priming start
- Aqua stop valve to prevent leaking
- 2 foam blocks
- Media baskets for both mechanical and
biological
- DVD instructional video. This one is especially important so
that you understand how to properly set it up and maintain it. While it is a simple device, there are certain
things you have to respect
Now I do have a couple of not so friendly points. The first is
that it is big if you are using it on a smaller tank. This is why we recommend that you use it on 200gallon
tanks an up. The second problem is that is can be a bit noisy if you don’t have it in a cabinet. Most of the
noise comes from air bubbles, but it should turn itself off to get rid of them and restart when they are
finished.
If you are in the market to buy a proper aquarium filter, then
by all means check out and buy the Fluval FX5. You will be impressed at the way this
thing cleans your aquarium.
